Final piece statement:
In this painting, the figures are turned away from each other to represent how two people may grow apart at the end of a relationship. The woman is pink and bathed in light as she heads into the chaos and leaves the man behind. The man stays behind to nurture the candle who's flame he believes is his salvation and the last remaining hopes of the relationship. What he doesn't know is that holding onto this candle is only preventing him from facing reality, and that he is actually nurturing the beast that keeps them trapped in darkness.
